From North Street, Ballycastle bear left at the roundabout onto Mary Street, past the Golf Club and left crossing the Glenshesk River onto the Cushendall Road. In 4km/2.5 miles take a left onto Torr Road in 2km/1.3miles turn left to stay on Torr Road, signed Cushendun/Torr Head/Murlough Bay.
The road steadily climbs as it makes its way inland of Fair Head, the bluffs and cliffs of which featured in season 7 of Game of Thrones. Access to Fair Head walking trails is over working farmland so not suitable for cycling.
If you want to visit Murlough Bay, Murlough Road on the left leads across National Trust land and down an incredibly steep road to the shore with several hairpin bends. You will need good brakes for this descent! This was the location used as the Iron Islands, Game of Thrones series three and where Davos was stranded after the Battle of Blackwater. The tiny beach behind the shore-side cottage is a super place for a dip on a calm day. Save energy for the hard climb back up to Torr Road!
