Enniskillen Festival – Lough Erne 2021

Sunday 12th September with good weather, the sun pushing through the light cloud and not a breath of wind. Perfect conditions for the 750m swim around Castle Island, Enniskillen for the RNLI.

With the kayakers from Blue Green Yonder lining the route, the swimmers started at the slip and swam across to Castle Island. They then had to swim a short way against the flow to round the top of the island, after which they gained a gentle push to aid them along the length of the far side. Finally, as they rounded the bottom corner and turned back upstream towards the slip they had to work harder against the flow.

1st swimmer home was Brendan Goodrich in a time of 16:19.

1st lady home Julie McGuigan in 19:30

Special mention to Kieran in a time of 27minutes and the final swimmers who were out of the water in 34 minutes.

30 swimmers registered for the event both local to Enniskillen and from several neighbouring counties. Marshalled and organised by Blue Green Yonder with kayakers, SUPs and safety boats.

Monies raised for RNLI
